Summit North Marina, Bear, DE
Background: Brandywine Design was contacted by client to assist with transforming the existing building to suit their desired look.
Objective: Update the existing space using what was there to get the restaurant through the first year of business.
Client interview: Clients wanted a South Beach/Miami atmosphere with bold colors and contemporary/art deco décor.
Details: Tangerine paint on the walls and ceiling of the dining area adds some much needed style to the space, as well as serves to detract from the dropped ceiling, while deep walnut stain on the bead board and woodwork adds sophistication. Cobalt pendant lights add a punch of color and draw attention the two bars to help define the space. New furniture with an art deco influence to create the look the clients were after, without going over the top for the location. White tablecloths hint at the fine menu served and simple candles on the table create an intimate dining atmosphere. Outside, sheer white fabric panels tied back add a breezy, resort like quality to the waterfront view while create a cozier feeling outdoors. Wrought iron details and exotic plants dress up the otherwise bland exterior and again, bring in the Miami feel the clients were after.
Result: A fresh new look for the marina, with influences of South Beach, but not too specific as to not fit the actual location. Patrons now have a destination for fine dining with a getaway feeling.
